Incorrect Boundary Notifications

The new geo-fencing is a great feature. I was woken up this morning at 5:09AM with an entering and exiting boundary alert and the garage door opening and closing. Unless I was sleep walking more than 100 meters from the house my phone was next to the bed all night. I turned off the garage program and have continued to received boundary notifications all day while being inside my house (home boundary set at 100m). Any advise on how to fix this? Thanks for the great new feature! WesB

Hi WesB,

Very sorry to hear this! For some reason iOS is telling MobiLinc that your phone is crossing boundary regions when sitting still.

Since we have no visibility into how iOS determines regions (or debugging capability into iOS) here's what I'd try to smooth this out:

- When setting up your boundary, tap the location row to confirm on the map that iOS has a good lock on your actual position.
- Check your Wi-Fi router. Maybe reboot it. If the Wi-Fi router periodically drops off and forces your iPhone to connect to the closest cell tower, that might trip the boundary detection according to the iOS geolocation detection logic.
- Just to see what happens, try setting your region to 1000 meters and see if that clears up the false trips. If it does, try narrowing in on the radius to see if there's a happy medium that plays well with what iOS is doing under the hood.

iOS is using multiple data points to determine regions, which is great, but makes it very difficult to tell with certainty what's happening in this scenario.
